Vincent Van Gogh
Dutch impressionist painter
Van Gogh is probably considered one of the world’s most famous in art history, he created 2100 works of art most of which he did in the last two years of his life. His works of art are bold in color, dramatic and very expressive.
He struggle with severe depression, he would have psychotic episodes and delusions, in and out of psychiatric hospitals and committed suicide at the age of 37 by a gunshot wound. Born in the Netherlands and died in France.
He drank heavily and would have intense fights with other artists in the art community it was one of these arguments with the famous painter Gauguin who was a friend that caused him to sever his ear off.
Van Gogh was commercially unsuccessful in his own lifetime and people didn’t understand him, considered a madman and a failure. Only in the early 20th century did people start to recognize his brilliance, he typified the ideal of the true tortured artist.
During The Nazi Period (1933-1945 ) many Van Gogh artworks were looted from Jewish collectors who were forced into exile and murdered. The German Lost
Art Foundation still lists dozens of missing Van Gogh’s all artwork in Europe was plundered by the Nazis all property owned by Jews including artwork were seized as a part of the holocaust. Many Jewish collectors where part of his popularization and dissemination of his work.
This all said I had the opportunity.to visit The Virtual Van Gogh collection:

My favorite Van Gogh is his "Starry Nights".
Enjoyed reading this piece.
Back in February, I attended the Klimpt Immersive. It was fabulous. "The Kiss" is one of my favorites.
I also love Monet's works. Had the opportunity to visit his home in Giverney, France & to see the lily pond.
I like Van Gogh's work. You can see how tortured he was. His work is either excellent or ghastly.
