Thank you, Halina, for filling in so many events, including injustices, of the history of Thanksgiving. As we move forward it is paramount to remember and learn from the past. It cannot be changed but teaches us valuable lessons that can be used to forge a better future. If forgotten or ignored those lessons will be also. Thanksgiving is a time to count our blessings and remember how we got here.

Thought provoking reflection Halina. History, like current affairs, is complex and in my opinion a mosaic of shades of grays and not all clear rights and wrongs. While we can't undo history we can all try our best to learn from it. And also, in my opinion, guilt does little to make for a better future. Canada, sadly, is a textbook example of how not to learn from history.

Prayers and blessings for all my American friends as you celebrate many reasons to give thanks and to recommit to a better future.

I learned several things from reading this Halina. Thanks for enlightening me on the real story of Thanksgiving and how the Native Americans were really treated. Sad.

It’s just heartbreaking knowing how the Native Americans were treated so brutally by these newcomers to America. We were always taught the sanitized version of history and am so happy that you write about the ugliness as well. As we celebrate this holiday, let’s of course count our blessings and be thankful for so much that we have, but let’s also not forget the tragedy and the suffering of the native American people. Well done🙏
