Holy Mother
Eric Clapton -considered One of the greatest guitarist of all time along with Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Prince …my opinion of course …
Eric wrote this song at a dark time in his life… addicted to drugs and alcohol , his life was taking on a downward spiral … he was in Canada at the time going to a canadian Theater to see a movie called Purple Rain, starring Prince, at the time he was very disillusion and saddened by the dreadful state of the culture of music and where it was headed, this was back in the 80s. … Prince gave him hope … quote he was a light in the darkness ..
Back to his hotel room ..he felt lost begging for the presence of the Divine Mother for comfort and help, on his knees he prayed…
This song came about, also partly written by Stephan Bishop and produced by Phil Collins …
Clapton said from that day forward there isn’t a day that goes by without getting on his knees and praying every morning for help and every night expressing gratitude for his life …
Clapton has had tragedy in his life with the loss of his 4 year old son but music has been a source of his healing, and as we all know music feeds and heals the soul, grief never leaves but music helps ease the pain of life …
Below I will leave two links
One for Holy Mother … featuring Luciano Pavarotti and The East London Gospel Chior ..this took place in 1996 in Bosnia for World Hunger
